Modules below are ordered like a short course — read each lesson, watch the demo, then take the mini-quiz. Your progress is saved locally.
1 — Scout/Guide Sign & Salute
The Scout sign is given with two fingers raised — it is used for salutation and recognition. The salute is used during formal ceremonies. Practice: keep the elbow slightly bent and hold a respectful posture.
Video demonstration:
Fun fact: The Scout handshake is traditionally left-handed.
2 — Flag, Flag Etiquette & National Anthem
Flag ceremonies teach respect. Always ensure the flag does not touch the ground. Hoist slowly and lower at sunset (or as per local rules). Stand respectfully during the national anthem.

Fun fact: Flag etiquette can vary between countries — always follow your unit's rules.
3 — Motto, Law & Promise
The Scout motto ("Be Prepared") and the Scout Law guide behaviour. For Pravesh, learn the promise and be able to recite the law points.
Scout Promise - short, clear commitment to duty, helping others, and following the law.
Fun fact: "Be Prepared" was chosen by Baden-Powell for readiness in body and mind.
4 — History of Scouting
Know the origins: Lord Robert Baden-Powell organised the Brownsea Island camp (1907) and published Scouting for Boys (1908). The movement spread quickly worldwide.
Short timeline
1907 Brownsea Island
1908 Scouting for Boys
1910s World expansion
Fun fact: Brownsea Island camp used boys from different backgrounds to test the program.
5 — Knots & Rope Skills
Important knots: Reef/Square knot (joining), Sheet bend (join unequal ropes), Clove hitch (start lashings), Bowline (fixed loop). Practice with rope and follow safety guidelines.
Video: Knot-tying step-by-step
Fun fact: The bowline is sometimes called the "king of knots" for its reliability.
6 — Uniform, Badges & Emblems
Learn parts of the uniform, where to place the scarf, badges, and why uniform standards matter (neatness, identity).
Fun fact: Neck scarves were used historically to wipe sweat and signal identity.
7 — Songs, Chants & Ceremonies
Camp songs build morale. Learn a few simple songs and the order of a basic ceremony (gather, flag, pledge, activities, closing).
Fun fact: Many scout songs were adapted from folk tunes for easy learning.
8 — Safety & Basic First Aid
Key points: assess scene, call for help, stop bleeding (pressure), treat burns (cool with water), handle fainting (raise legs), prevent infection (clean wounds). Always carry a basic first-aid kit.
Fun fact: Basic first aid knowledge saves lives — even simple pressure on wounds can be crucial.
9 — Campcraft & Outdoor Skills
Learn tent pitching basics, safe fire building (circle, clear area, water nearby), leave-no-trace, food hygiene, and wildlife awareness.
Fun fact: Campcraft is as much about planning as it is about building — prep prevents problems.
10 — Map Reading & Compass
Learn map symbols, orientation, basic compass usage (bearing, taking a bearing), and simple navigation on foot.
Fun fact: The fleur-de-lis on many scout badges symbolizes north — navigate to the right path!
